Our strong local heritage has instilled in us a genuine consideration for the local communities we serve. This means we believe in giving back to these communities wherever we can. Our Charitable Trust was set up specifically for this purpose and our Grassroots Endowment Fund helps the local community.
Our initial deposit was matched, pound for pound, by the Government’s Grassroots Grant Programme. We are extremely proud of our ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ Award and our Mayor’s Pride Award for ‘Community Oriented Business of the Year’. Both of these awards recognise our commitment to our local communities.

In 2013 we celebrated our Diamond Jubilee. For over 60 years we have helped local people buy their own homes and save for their futures. We also celebrated our culture of supporting charities, events and organisations which contribute to the quality of life in the communities we serve.
We’ve come a long way since 1953. Our first independent office opened in Harpenden in May 1960, with further offices opening in Radlett in May 1981, Leighton Buzzard in May 1992, Wendover in September 2010, Tring in January 2011 and Buckingham in March 2011. We cherish our traditional values, which we continue to preserve as we look to the future.
